AGL Networks completes Charlotte network expansion
Construction on 92- mile network completed in 6 months
CHARLOTTE – February 23, 2010 - AGL Networks, LLC (AGL Networks), an Atlanta based telecommunications infrastructure provider, announced today the company’s dark fiber network expansion into Charlotte, North Carolina has been completed.
“Our team brought this network expansion online in an aggressive 6 month construction cycle and within budget” said Jim Gillis, president, AGL Networks.
AGL Networks provides dedicated dark fiber networks to Enterprise, Wireless and Wireline Carriers. Typically all fiber lines are placed underground for the utmost in network safety and reliability that its clients require.
“Our all underground Charlotte network offers our wholesale and enterprise customers an option that they did not have before. We already have 12 buildings that have been added to the network and we look to aggressively add to that over the next few months,” said Gillis. “In some instances with the amount of bandwidth enterprise customers are requiring today, it becomes increasingly cost efficient for them to manage their own private network.”
AGL Networks’ initial 92-mile, high fiber count network in Charlotte will touch carrier POPs and telco-neutral hotels and serve the Central Business District, University Research Park, Ballantyne, South Park, Charlotte/Douglas Airport, and the Coliseum areas. Pre-spliced connections and fiber termination panels (FTPs) in AGL Networks’ on-net buildings give customers the ability to rapidly deploy bandwidth upgrades to meet existing and future requirements.
The benefits of leasing capacity from AGL Networks include the ease and ability to increase bandwidth on demand, complete route diversity from other providers, enhance network security with an all underground network, provide flexibility in applications that utilize dark fiber and reduce overall telecommunication costs.
AGL Networks now has 770 route miles of fiber backbone in 3 principal markets, Atlanta, Phoenix and now Charlotte, with over 285 on-net locations. For more information about AGL Networks, visit our website at www.aglnetworks.com.
